Cackleberries are produced on a hybrid pasture and compost yard system in the warm season and on a deep bedding system in the cold season. In this system we provide our hens with consistent and seasonally influenced access to greens, kitchen scraps, sprouted/fermented grains and supplements as well as compost based foodstuff such as composting insects, mycellium, sprouts and other high protein life-cycle chicken feeds in addition to weekly rotations providing fresh pasture and pasture insects while mitigating the risk of pathogen and disease build up.
