Cackleberries are produced on a hybrid pasture and compost yard system in the warm season and on a deep bedding system in the cold season. In this system we provide our hens with consistent and seasonally influenced access to greens, kitchen scraps, sprouted/fermented grains and supplements as well as life-cycle based foodstuff such as composting insects, mycellium, sprouts and other high protein compost centered chicken feed in addition to weekly rotations providing fresh pasture and pasture insects while mitigating the risk of pathogen and disease build up.
